Biographical Sketch

Dr. Uwe Pischel was born in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany, in 1973. He received the Diploma in Chemistry from the Humboldt-Universität Berlin in 1998 and was awarded with the PhD degree from the Universität Basel in 2001. After a short stay as DFG postdoctoral fellow at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (2002) he started his independent career at the Universidade do Porto (Portugal) in 2003 and moved later on as Ramon y Cajal Fellow to Valencia and in 2007 finally to the Universidad de Huelva. There he was promoted to ProfesorContratado Doctor in 2009 and toAssociate Professor (Profesor Titular) in 2016. Since 2019 he holds the rank of a Full Professor (Catedrático) of Organic Chemistry.

Dr. Pischel’s main research lines are the development of molecular switches for nanoscale information processing, supramolecular photochemistry, and the design of boron-containing fluorophores for applications in bioimaging and sensing. In these fields he has published ca. 110 articles and delivered invited lectures at numerous international conferences.
